Bhopal. Sundarja mango of Rewa, famous for its unique taste, is now spreading its fragrance abroad after leaving the gardens of Gavindgarh. However, now it is also being cultivated in large quantities in the Kuthulia Fruit Research Center of Rewa. Where Govindgarh’s mango is of light white colour. On the other hand, the mangoes of the Kuthulia Fruit Research Center have a light green color. Diabetic patients can also eat Sundarja mangoes without fibers and people are crazy about its sweet taste. Due to these characteristics, recently it has also been given GI tag. According to the scientists of Fruit Research Center, Rewa, Sundarja’s mango gets its wonderful qualities due to the soil of Govindgarh. Due to this, it gets an attractive aroma and tremendous sweetness. It is believed that its fragrance can be recognized even by closing the eyes.

There is also a huge demand in France and Arab countries:
Sundarja mango was once the favorite of the kings of Rewa, but now it is in demand even abroad. It is in great demand in France, England and America and its consignment is also sent to Arab countries. Apart from this, it is also in demand in Delhi, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat and orders for mangoes start pouring in even before the harvest. Not only this, this mango has been so popular over the years that even a postal stamp has been issued on it in 1968. Agricultural scientist RP Joshi told that the mango orchard of Fruit Research Center located in Kuthulia dates back to the time of Maharaja Gulab Singh of Rewa state. Later it came to the Agriculture Department. Spread over 132 acres, this garden has more than 2500 mango trees. Many trees here are named after deities. These are known as Vishnu Bhog, Hanuman Bhog, Krishna Bhog, Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha. Sundarja, Malika, Amrapali, Mahmood Bahar, Chausa, Swarna Rekha, Prabha Shankar Fazli, Dussehri and Langra mangoes are mainly grown in this orchard.

Many works have been done to expand Sundarja mango cultivation and to increase its marketing. Farmers are also being informed about online sales. If it is cultivated on a large scale, farmers can get good revenue from it.
