Kaithal.DC Prashant Panwar said an important step has been taken to provide facilities to working women under the Chief Minister Maternity Scheme. Working women will get an allowance of Rs 5,000 under the state government’s Chief Minister Motherhood Scheme even if their second child is a boy.

DC Pshant Panwar said that the Women and Child Development Department launched the Mukhyamantri Matritva Yojana to compensate for loss of wages during pregnancy and ensure nutrition of lactating women. Women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes who give birth to a boy as their second child can avail the benefits of this scheme. Additionally, women beneficiaries of MNREGA Job Card, E-Shram Card, BPL Ration Card, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Kisan Samman Nidhi, including women with more than 40 per cent disability, are eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme.

He said that the annual income of the woman’s family should not exceed Rs 8 lakh to avail the benefits of the scheme. In order to be able to claim the funding, after registering the pregnancy, at least one prenatal examination is required, as well as registration of the child and vaccination against BCG, OPV, DPT and hepatitis B. To avail the benefits of the Chief Minister Maternity Assistance Scheme, an application can be made through the Anganwadi Officer or Asha.

He said that Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is already being implemented for working women with a support amount of Rs 5,000 given in three installments. By changing the rules, the government has decided to pay out the funding amount in two installments. Now, the first installment of Rs 3,000 will be paid upon completion of at least one antenatal check-up and the second installment of Rs 2,000 will be paid upon completion of birth registration and the child’s first round of vaccinations.
