Operation Kaveri: The government is running Operation Kaveri to evacuate the Indian citizens trapped in crisis-hit Sudan. Now the rescue operation of the government has got the support of the airline company Indigo. Indigo plane carrying 231 stranded Indians took off from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Shortly before, the aircraft has reached New Delhi Airport safely with 231 Indians.

Shortly before, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar tweeted and informed that Indigo’s plane has landed 231 Indians from Jeddah to Delhi airport. Earlier Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan tweeted, Indigo 231 Indians joined Operation Cauvery in a flight from Jeddah to New Delhi. With this 5th outbound flight around 1600 arrived for India. Happy journey. Our mission continues.

We have offered our services for charter flights to Jeddah for our citizens from Sudan under the Government of India’s Operation Cauvery rescue mission, Indigo Airlines said in a statement. We are still waiting for details from the ministry to start these flights, nothing is confirmed yet. Indigo said it is committed to support the central government’s mission to evacuate Indian nationals from Sudan. However, now Indigo’s plane has landed at Delhi airport shortly before. Let us tell you that a plane carrying 362 Indians stranded in crisis-hit Sudan landed at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Friday.

On Friday, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan told that 2100 Indians have reached Jeddah so far under Operation Kaveri. Meanwhile, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said INS Sumedha, stationed at Port Sudan, has also left for Jeddah with 300 passengers from the trouble-torn country. This is the 13th batch of INS Sumedha, which is taking back Indians to Jeddah. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, so far 2100 Indians have been transported from Sudan to Jeddah. 3500 Indian citizens and 1000 people of Indian origin are stranded in the African country of Sudan amid civil war. There is a struggle for power between the army and the paramilitary group.
