Wrestlers Protest: Wrestlers protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The Delhi Police on Friday registered two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on allegations of sexual harassment.
Brij Bhushan’s reaction has come to the fore after the FIR was registered. He has expressed faith in the Delhi Police and the Supreme Court. Said that I have been saying from the beginning that some industrialists and the Congress are behind this protest. This is not against the wrestlers. Also said that I will cooperate fully in the investigation. Brij Bhushan said that I have full faith in the Supreme Court. No one can be bigger than the Supreme Court in this country. The matter of lodging an FIR has come before the Supreme Court. I have full faith in the investigating agency. I am completely innocent and ready to face these allegations, also ready to cooperate with the investigation. He further said that I have not yet received the copy of the FIR. I will talk when I get the copy of the FIR.
Brij Bhushan said – I am ready to resign
WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said that resigning is not a big deal but I am not a criminal. If I resign, it will mean that I have accepted his allegations. My term is almost over. The government has formed a 3-member committee and elections will be held in 45 days and my term will end after the elections. Brij Bhushan said that there should be a complete investigation in this whole matter as soon as possible.
I am not an MP because of Vinesh Phogat
Marking the wrestlers, Brij Bhushan said that every day the wrestlers are coming with their new demands. They demanded FIR, FIR was registered. Now they are saying that I should be sent to jail and resign from all posts. I am an MP because of the people of my constituency and not because of Vinesh Phogat. Only one family and akhada are protesting and 90% players of Haryana are with me. Why the players of the states like Himachal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh etc. are not protesting. Sexual harassment is happening with them continuously for 12 years, why doesn’t that sexual harassment happen with other players of the country?
Wrestler reached the police station
Delhi Police yesterday registered two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh following allegations of sexual harassment by women wrestlers. As per the latest updates, wrestler Vinesh Phogat and other wrestlers have reached Connaught Place police station in New Delhi.
