Bhopal, To control the population of street dogs in the capital Bhopal, animal birth control systems are being set up by the Municipal Corporation at three places. These centers have been completed and sterilization of street dogs will start at these centers from next month. There are more than one lakh such street dogs in the city, which have not been sterilized. Because of this, more than 50 street dogs are born everyday in the city. In comparison, on an average only 30 street dogs are sterilized in a day. Municipal officials claim that the Hyderabad model is being adopted to control street dogs.
Centers are being built at different places
Under the Hyderabad model, the Municipal Corporation is building three Animal Birth Control Centers (ABC Centers) in different areas of the city. It is claimed that more than 150 street dogs can be sterilized every day. In this way, in the coming one and a half to two years, the population of street dogs in the city is expected to be controlled. Currently there is only one ABC Center in the city.

Success will come from the Hyderabad model, because till two years ago dog biting was a big problem in Hyderabad. In such a situation, the administration increased the number of ABCs and gave the responsibility of operation to four organizations instead of one. As a result, the number of sterilizations here increased from 100 to 300 everyday and the number of street dogs came under control.
