Municipal commissioner locked 36 shops and a building for non-payment of tax, 1.18 crores outstanding on the building

Bhopal, The commissioner of Municipal Corporation Bhopal is in the field for the last one month to collect property tax and other taxes. On Wednesday also, Commissioner KBS Chowdhary visited all the wards and zone offices and inquired about those who did not pay tax and got 36 shops and one building locked in front of him. Due to outstanding property tax of Rs 1 crore 18 lakh on a building located in the Press Complex, the commissioner got the lock in front of him for non-payment even after discussing with the concerned person.

The Commissioner got 36 shops of the New Categorized Market closed in front of him. The Municipal Corporation took this action on the building under section 175 of the Municipal Rules Act, 1956. According to Commissioner Chowdhary, dues, notices etc. were served to the building owner from time to time for payment of tax dues by the corporation staff as per rules, but the said action was taken for non-payment of tax dues by the building owner. During this, Assistant Commissioner Ekta Aggarwal, Encroachment in-charge Kamar Saqib, Zonal Officer and staff of the ward were present.
