The responsibility of investigation has been entrusted to the SIT in the matter of grabbing the property of temples in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has handed over the investigation of illegal lease of temple properties and illegal sale of properties to the SIT. Issuing the order, he said that the decision has been taken after the request for investigation and evidence provided by the JK Peace Forum. Let us tell you that JK Peace Forum had taunted the government and said that for the last 33 years the temple property of the minorities is being looted, but the government has not taken any concrete steps to save their properties.

These allegations were leveled against the government and the administration

The JK Peace Forum had said that despite repeated orders from the court, the properties of the temple were being given on lease. In many districts, temples have been sold or given on lease. At the same time, the NGO said that the previous government had failed to protect the property of minority temples. Kashmiri Pandits have been chased away in the valley and their temples have been looted. Between 1989 and 2022, inactive temple trusts were operated and the properties of the temples were sold, in connivance with the officials of the Jammu and Kashmir government. Citing the decision of the High Court in this matter, he had demanded the government to investigate the matter.

This order was given by the court

According to the JK Peace Forum, the High Court had given a verdict on the matter that Hindu temples should be protected. The court had also said that temples also need to be protected from encroachment and illegal leases. Also, the High Court had ordered the Jammu and Kashmir Administration and the Revenue Department not to issue any fards regarding the properties of the temple. The Forum has expressed happiness that the investigation of the looting of temple properties is now being handed over to the SIT. In such a situation, the minorities are expected to get justice soon.
