Jammu and Kashmir: Several houseboats suddenly caught fire on Saturday in Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Three tourists from Bangladesh died in this incident. According to information, 5 houseboats and more than 10 wooden houses caught fire in Dal Lake. Police officials have given this information.

In this regard, police officials said that three bodies were recovered a few hours after the fire incident. He told that they are being identified. Officials further said that the fire had engulfed a houseboat near pier number 9. By the time the fire was brought under control, several nearby boats were also gutted.

Police said that property worth crores was lost in this incident. However, the police is trying to find out the cause of the fire. This fire started around 5 in the morning. Information about the fire was immediately given to the fire department and police. As soon as the information was received, fire tenders from River Station Nehru Park, Batamalu and Gavkadal reached the spot.

Meanwhile, Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Aijaz Asad said that as soon as information about the incident was received, teams of SDRF, Kashmir Police and fire and emergency agencies swung into action and tried to control the fire. Apart from this, the Police Commissioner said that the tourists and residents staying in houseboats were the first to be rescued and taken to safe places. He said that all possible help will be provided to the victims by the government. Apart from this, essential household items including blankets will soon be provided to the fire victims.
