Jind: In some parts of Uchana Kalan District Nos. 13, 9 and 11, people have been suffering from drinking water shortage for the past decade. There was a shortage of drinking water at the water house on Khedi Mansania Road in Uchana Kalan as canal water was not reaching the tanks. Despite repeated appeals to the government and administration, only assurances were received. The water from the submersibles installed here was poor and not supplied in sufficient quantities. The villagers gathered and decided to collect donations together. Rs 300 per acre was fixed and the pipeline was laid.

The head of the city administration, Vikas Kala, made an important contribution to the launch of this campaign. By bringing everyone together and with the help of donations, this problem could be solved from the ground up. The water house’s tanks, which used to be empty for lack of water, now appear to be full to the brim as the canal water reaches the water house. Due to the adequate water supply, the faces of the villagers are now radiant. Water was supplied to the reservoir tanks from New Barsola Minor on Uchana Khurd Road by laying a pipeline more than two kilometers long through the fields. The villagers completed this work by collecting an amount of around Rs 8 lakh. The villagers were tired of dealing with the government and administration, so the brotherhood worked together to overcome the lack of drinking water.

The pipeline was laid under water protection in 2004

The Uchana Mandi water recharge program was inaugurated on November 26, 2004 by the then CM Omprakash Chautala in the INLD government. The drinking water shortage could be solved for a few years, but the pipeline laid from New Barsola Minor to the water reservoir was contaminated in many places. Despite repeated repairs, water could not enter the tank due to blockages. In such a situation, the villagers, at their own expense, laid 10-inch pipes dug through the fields to supply water to the water house. More than 5,000 people living in around 1,000 houses in some parts of Districts 13, 9 and 11 will benefit.

The pipeline was blocked by a pond

Jui Puneet of the Uchana health department said that the pipeline was blocked due to the pond. The department took action as part of the estimating process. In this regard, consideration is currently being given to whether the water supply to this reservoir must be provided via a lifting system. The residents of the village transported water to the water house via a pipeline at their own elevation.
