The Special Staff of North District has busted an international cheating racket which used to dupe holders and banks of forex cards used abroad. It took about five months for the police to reach this gang. At last two fraudsters have been caught. Their names have been mentioned as Sonal and Paras. Eight mobiles, two cars bought with the cheating money and some other items used in the crime have been seized from the thugs. The gang also duped a woman living in the UK of Rs 11 lakh. According to DCP Sagar Singh Kalsi, this gang used to obtain data of forex card holders in collusion with banks.
This is how the accused used to execute the fraud
Explain that the accused used to transfer the details of the forex card to another blank forex card. Earlier, the mobile and email of the card holder was changed. Used to withdraw money by going to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Dubai. The money was brought to India through hawala, cricket betting and other means. According to the police, this gang was active since 2019. A woman from Delhi living in the UK had given a complaint against him. The thugs had transferred Rs 11 lakh from his forex card.
When the woman came back to Delhi, she complained about the matter to the police. According to the police, Paras was earlier an employee of a National Bank. He was later fired. This is master of changing forex card details. To get the data, the thugs used to give even the vehicle as a gift to their source. To target the customers, these people used to go to different places of Delhi and UP and make calls. In the investigation, it was found that these people have withdrawn the amount by going abroad 6 to 7 times in a month.
