Questions were constantly being raised regarding the PCR policy of Delhi Police. After the Kanjhawala incident in Delhi, these questions started arising more rapidly. Now the Delhi Police has changed its rules. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has decided to change the PCR policy. Former Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had changed the rules and regulations of PCR. Now that rule has been changed to the same as before. After this decision, PCR will now work as a separate unit as before.

Former commissioner Rakesh Asthana had merged the districts

Former Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had linked the PCR unit with the districts during his tenure. Now it is being converted back into a separate unit as before. This means that now the PCR unit will work as before apart from the districts.

In fact, the main complaint that was coming after the PCR was merged with the districts, is that they are not able to investigate the information of any crime in a fair manner and PCR personnel are being used for other work. Due to this, the command room was not getting correct information about any incident.

On the instructions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora constituted a committee under the chairmanship of some special commissioner level officers to probe the functioning of PCR. The committee constituted for this had submitted its report last week. After this, the Commissioner of Police announced on Monday to separate the PCR from the district and make it a unit.
