Delhi’s Shahdara district police has arrested five including two minors involved in the sextortion racket. This gang used photos of Delhi Police officers in their WhatsApp profile and Truecaller. One of the accused even claimed himself to be the SHO of the Cyber ​​Police Station. In the last three to four months, this gang had collected more than 40 lakhs from the people. Especially the elderly people were more on their target. Police have recovered six mobile phones, seven SIM cards, 24 videos from them. Along with this, the accounts of many banks have been frozen. The names of the accused are Rahul Khan 26, Armaan 21, Azad 41 and other two minors, residents of Bharatpur Rajasthan.

According to DCP Rohit Meena, a 67-year-old resident of Jagatpuri had lodged a complaint with the cyber police station regarding the matter. It was told in the complaint that on February 18, he received a WhatsApp video call from an unknown number, in which a girl was seen doing obscene acts. After this, he received an extortion call, in which the caller introduced himself as the SHO of Cyber ​​Police Station and tried to extort money from him. Said that if the money is not given, then her nude video will be made viral on social media. The troubled old man had transferred Rs 13 lakh 70 thousand to the bank account of the fraudsters under pressure.

On the complaint received in this matter, the police registered a case and started investigation. Police investigated the CDR and WhatsApp chat of the mobile. All the bank accounts in which the money was sent were analysed. After focusing the investigation on technical surveillance, the police team reached Bharatpur and Alwar Rajasthan, from where five people including two minors were arrested. During interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that they used to make WhatsApp video calls or messenger calls to the victims. After this, using another mobile, pornographic videos of the girl were played and the victim was encouraged to do the same. By doing so, the accused gang members would record the screen of his video call. After this, extortion was done by calling the victim.

People involved in the racket used to make calls to the victim posing as cyber SHOs. He was threatened that a girl had filed a case against him. Later another member of the gang would call and threaten to circulate the video on social media. Money was demanded in the name of removal of the video and settlement. To commit this crime, the accused used to use SIM and mobile purchased from West Bengal. One of the accused used to call himself SHO Vikram Rathore and the other as Sanjay from YouTube. On their arrest, the police have frozen about a dozen bank accounts. In the investigation so far, five complaints of such cases on the NCRP portal have also been linked, of which three are from UP, one from Uttarakhand and one from Gujarat. Rahul Khan is ninth pass among the accused. He used to introduce himself as Sanjay on YouTube. Armaan has also studied till eighth standard. He used to present himself as a girl in the video and used to make a girl’s voice. Azad has studied only till the fifth standard.
