New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has busted an international drug racket involved in manufacturing heroin from opium on a large scale. Eight people including a minor have been arrested. An Afghan citizen is also included in these. A total of 8 kg 563 grams of high quality heroin was seized from them. The cost of this heroin has been estimated at 50 crores. Police have seized mixing powder, chemical, colour, vial, utensils, gas cylinder, packing material, weighing machine, mixer grinder and cash counting machine in the case. The accused were caught under two operations.

Special CP Ravindra Yadav told that on the guidelines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Police is busy in nabbing drug racket kingpins. In this episode, information was received about a syndicate from Afghanistan involved in drug smuggling. It was learned that after making good quality heroin, the people involved in this racket used to take it to Punjab. The team of NDR section caught an Afghani named Ruhullah alias Akbar and his two accomplices Siddiq Ansari and Guddu Ansari from Jaffrabad area by setting a trap. A huge amount of heroin was recovered from them.

During interrogation, it was revealed that all three are associated with Afghan nationals who transport raw material in the form of opium through various means. After this, heroin was made from it in the lab. He told that he got the raw material from Ajay Kumar in Jaffrabad. After this, Ajay Kumar, a resident of Badarpur, was caught. It said that he was acting on the instructions of Rahmatullah, who was based in Afghanistan, and he used to receive raw materials hidden in parcels sent by these people to his address. These parcels were delivered by him to various places, in return for which he got commission. After this, a person from Punjab, who had come to Kailash Nagar to take delivery of heroin from accused Siddiq Ansari, was caught. He used to work for an Afghan national.

At the same time, under the second operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force took Mohammad Zahid into custody after the input received from the informer. He is a drug dealer. On its tip, the police team busted a lab running in a residential building in Vijay Park, Maujpur, where heroin was manufactured. The drug dealer was caught by a trap near Majnu Ka Tila, Signature Bridge loop leading to Delhi. Five hundred grams of heroin was seized from the trunk of the scooty found with him.

Accused Zahid told the police that the raw material and chemicals were procured from Bhiwani Mandi. The accused Ruhullah Noori, a resident of Jaffrabad, had come to India in 2016 on a medical visa. His visa has expired. Accused Siddiq and Guddu Ansari also used to run a garment factory in Jaffrabad. Ajay Kumar used to work at a medical store in Badarpur. He has also been involved in a murder case. The name of one of the accused from Punjab is yet to be disclosed as the police operation against drug peddlers is on. Zahid was involved in the drug trade for the last two-three years. The accused Rahul has been involved in a murder and dacoity case. After being released on bail, he started selling heroin in the area. The eighth accused is a minor.
