Delhi: Hooliganism on Holi is not good, more than 200 police teams will hit the streets, advisory issued

Delhi Police will deal strictly with those who flout traffic rules on Holi. This is the reason why this time more than 200 teams of traffic police, PCR and local police are being taken on the roads. Each team will also be equipped with an alcometer, so that those who drive after drinking alcohol can be fined. The police have taken this step in view of the increasing number of people flouting the traffic rules every year.

There is no dearth of people who disturb the colors on the festival of Holi. Some people not only put their lives in danger by drinking alcohol, but also the innocent people walking on the road have to bear the brunt of it. This time on March 8, the Delhi Police has made special arrangements to deal with drunkards and hoodlums. Police will put 200 teams on the roads to keep a check on drink driving, over speeding, zigzag, dangerous driving, red light jumping, triple riding, driving by minors and riding without helmets.

The police have identified such places where such cases are more frequent. It has been made clear from the side of the police that it will not back down from arresting those who ignore the rules and the hoodlums. The police will also take strict action against such vehicle owners whose vehicle is found to be driven by a minor or the vehicle involved in stunting. Delhi Police has appealed to all parents not to allow their minor children to drive vehicles. In the case of drunk and drive, apart from being fined, the police also has the right to cancel the license. Along with this, such people may also have to go to jail. Police officers say that the promptness of the police is the reason that the number of accidents happening on Holi is decreasing every year.

It may be noted that a total of 2,456 challans were issued for breaking traffic rules on Holi last year. Most of the people in the vehicles that were challaned were without helmets. Their number was 1,921. 314 were challaned for riding three people on a two-wheeler. 196 people were found driving under the influence of alcohol and 25 people were challaned for dangerous driving. At the same time, earlier in 2021, 3,282 people violated traffic rules on the day of Holi.
