BJP has made a big allegation against the Kejriwal Government of Delhi. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has expressed surprise over the removal of hundreds of employees of Delhi government’s night shelters by the NGOs which have been entrusted with their management. The BJP spokesperson has said that every second month we hear that food supply to night shelters has been stopped due to fund cuts by the Delhi government. On Monday, dismissed night shelter workers protested at the DUSIB office at ITO as Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister and DUSIB officials refused to meet them, which shows how insensitive the Kejriwal government is towards the employees.
‘Night shelters should be handed over to religious organizations’
Spokesperson Praveen Shankar has said that the way the night shelter funds are being stopped repeatedly and now hundreds of employees have been dismissed, it is clear that the Kejriwal government wants to close the DUSIB night shelters. Kapoor has said that hundreds of socio-religious organizations are already running charitable dharamshalas etc. in Delhi, but it is surprising that the Delhi government is trying to avoid its responsibility towards the homeless. If the Kejriwal government cannot give funds to the NGOs running these night shelters, then they should be handed over to those social-religious organizations which can themselves raise funds to run the night shelters.
