Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, reacting strongly to the statements made by politicians during the situation arising out of heavy rains and floods, said that the series of allegations and counter-allegations that have started during this disaster is against humanity. It is not right at all in the interest of the state and the country. The Chief Minister was talking to reporters at the state office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rohtak.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that this is an example of small thinking. A small minded person can think that I should defend myself and harm someone else. Saying that Haryana has released water from Hathini Kund and the photos being shown related to it, I think that the knowledge of an illiterate and illiterate person, if PhD is started in it, then he will get PhD degree for sure. .

Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that what is this theory that we will drown our districts and then drown Delhi. Due to the damage done by Yamuna, first of all Yamuna Nagar got submerged. The state government had to vacate two villages in the district. The area of Haryana along the Yamuna seems to be more than that of Delhi. That’s why they should have so much understanding that at least before making such statement, they should think before defaming Haryana. Haryana will not be defamed like this. Haryana has its own identity. Haryana does not harm anyone, but serves.

Each barrage had a capacity

He said that ever since canals and dams were built, it is a rule that every barrage has a capacity and water below that capacity is diverted. But when the water comes in too much, the diversion of canals is stopped, as the water will break the system due to excess flow. If it is kept closed, then the system will be safe. After this, the natural flow of water will go in that direction. Even in Bhakra, if there is an overflow, its water goes into the rivers, into the Sutlej and not into the Bhakra Main Canal.

Haryana is giving more water to Delhi than its share

CM said that only Haryana fulfills the water requirement of Delhi. Delhi’s share is 750 cusecs and even today Haryana gives 1070 cusecs of water to Delhi. 320 cusecs of water gives more than its share. Because the Supreme Court has said that the people who drink have the first right on water, so the drinking water requirement of Delhi should be met. The Chief Minister said that the Supreme Court had said that the Delhi government would pay for the extra water given by Haryana. While the Delhi government does not pay for that 320 cusecs of extra water. If something is being given with money, then its money must be returned.

Haryana never spend money on maintenance of ITO Barrage

CM said that Haryana never spends money on the maintenance of ITO Barrage. That money was given by Indraprastha Power Plant till 2018. With the closure of the plant, the money stopped coming. The Delhi government never said that any such problem could arise here. They never held a flood control meeting and if they did, they never said that the maintenance of this barrage has stopped. Today, when there was a problem, he stood up. He said that due to lack of proper maintenance of Yamuna, the Delhi government could not take out even 3 lakh cusecs of water from the Delhi area. The Haryana government has set up an inquiry to check all their systems. Along with the ITO barrage, encroachments inside the Yamuna river have also been asked to be detected.

Had the SYL canal been built today, Punjab would have suffered less.

The Chief Minister said that if the SYL Canal had been built today, Punjab would have suffered less. But the excess rain water from Punjab flowed into the SYL that has formed in Haryana, due to which areas of Ambala and Kurukshetra districts were submerged. These two districts were submerged only because of incomplete SYL. But Haryana did not accuse Punjab. Shri Manohar Lal said sarcastically that some leaders who are joking today like clowns that today we have water, then why don’t they ask us for water today. It is not right to make such statements at this time. A person sitting on a constitutional post should never make light jokes. No one demands water during these 3 months, everyone should manage water in their respective states, that is enough. Water is demanded for the remaining 9 months, when there is a need, everyone needs their share.

30 people died due to rain and flood, 133 houses damaged

The Chief Minister said that in previous years there was 145 mm of rain during these days, but this time it has received 245 to 250 mm of rain, which is 180 percent more. He said that the report of the assessment of the loss caused to life and property in the state would come after two days. But according to the information so far, 30 people have died. 133 houses which have been completely damaged and 183 houses which have been partially damaged. 110 animals have died and poultry farms have also been damaged. Arrangements have been made for about 5400 people in relief camps where they are being provided food and medical aid. He said that 1.60 lakh hectare is waterlogged.
