Karnataka Politics: The discussion about power sharing and CM change has started once again in Congress. Priyank Kharge, a minister in the Karnataka government, has expressed his desire to become the Chief Minister of the state. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge has said that he will agree to take the post of Chief Minister in the state if the party high command asks him. Congress is currently in power in Karnataka and Siddaramaiah is holding the post of CM. Priyank has got a place in the Karnataka cabinet and is serving as the IT Minister of the state.
What did Priyank Kharge say
Responding to CM Siddaramaiah’s statement yesterday that he will remain the CM for 5 years, Minister Priyank Kharge said that Siddaramaiah should remain the CM and DK Shivakumar should become the CM. This is his personal statement. The high command will decide who should become the CM and who should not become the Chief Minister. He said that if the high command asks, I am ready to become CM.
CM’s power sharing issue
Kharge said that four people sat in Delhi and talked about who should be the CM and how power should be distributed. From Zilla Panchayat members to MLAs, everyone is free to express their opinion. There is nothing wrong in this. However, the CM’s statement is not an inscription carved in stone. He said that everything depends on the party high command.
Outcry against BJP-JDS
Minister Priyank Kharge quipped that BJP is a leaderless party and JDS is a peopleless party. It seems that BJP leaders have no voice in the state. If Yediyurappa had roared with the central leaders instead of roaring against the Congress here, he would have got the opposition chair. He also talked about the alliance between BJP and JDS and said that this alliance has been made by the JDS family.
