BAN vs SL 2nd Test: Bangladesh announced 15-member team for the second test, return of the dreaded all-rounder after 11 months

New Delhi. Bangladesh announced its 15-member squad for the second Test against Sri Lanka to be held in Chattogram. Powerful all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has returned to the team. The second test will be played from 30 March. This will strengthen Bangladesh’s hopes of saving the series. Sri Lanka had defeated Bangladesh in the first test.

Shakib Al Hasan returns to international cricket for the first time since the ODI World Cup in November 2023. Before the World Cup match against Australia, he suffered an injury to the index finger of his left hand. For this reason his journey in the World Cup was short.

Earlier this year in January, he was diagnosed with a vision problem. There was a defect in his retina. But, the medical team of Bangladesh Cricket Board has not yet decided on its surgery. Shakib, who last played a Test in April 2023, returns in place of Tauheed Huday, who was in the 15-man squad for the first Test. But, he was not included in the playing-11.

Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 328 runs in the first Test played in Sylhet. Crucial WTC25 points will be up for grabs in the second Test in Chattogram, with both teams placed sixth with 33.33 percentage points. Sri Lankan captain Dhananjay de Silva had scored centuries in both the innings of the first Test. Apart from him, Kamindu Mendis also scored a century. Bangladesh team had failed to score 200 runs in both the innings.
