Captain Rohit Sharma leaves for London

Team India captain Rohit Sharma left for England on 28 May. Yashasvi Jaiswal has also left for London with him. Whereas, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja will leave for London on May 30 after the IPL 2023 final. At the same time, many players like Virat Kohli, Mohammad Siraj, Akshar Patel, Umesh Yadav have already reached London.

Why Rituraj was not selected

Yashasvi has scored 625 runs in 14 matches of IPL 2023 with one century. During this, his average has been 48, in which he has hit 82 fours and 26 sixes. He has scored 404 runs in five first-class matches at an average of 80. Rituraj Gaikwad was selected as a standby player for the World Test Championship (WTC), but he told the BCCI that he was going to get married on June 3-4. That’s why he will be able to join the team on 5th June. In such a situation, Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid included Yashasvi Jaiswal in the team as an alternative to Gaikwad from the selectors.
