Operation Kaveri: A civil war between the military and a paramilitary group for power in Sudan continues. The government is evacuating Indian citizens trapped in war-torn African country Sudan under Operation Kaveri. So far more than 1100 Indians have been evacuated from Sudan under Operation Kaveri. According to the information received, about 3000 Indians are stranded in Sudan.

As per the latest updates, the fifth batch of 297 stranded Indians left Port Sudan for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday from INS Teg. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted, #OperationKaveri INS Teg departs Port Sudan with 297 passengers on board. This is the fifth batch of stranded Indians bound for Jeddah. Earlier on late Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs had informed about the fourth batch of 136 stranded Indians, which left from Port Sudan for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia in an IAF C-130J aircraft. Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan received the last batch of Indians who arrived at Jeddah airport on Wednesday.
