The main objective of the trial is to check the functionality of this technology before it reaches the people so that the passengers do not face any kind of problem. Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communications, DMRC said that they expect the facility to be operational by the end of this month.

Passengers will have to use the Delhi Metro app to generate the e-ticket. You will get many options to make payment on the app. After making the payment a QR code will be generated. To enter the station, you need to scan the QR code through the code scanner at AFC.

According to an estimate, 75 percent of DMRC commuters use Metro cards to travel by Metro. At present, the ridership of DMRC is around 5.5 to 6 million. Before Kovid, this number was 6 to 65 lakhs. Even after the introduction of the e-ticket facility, passengers will have the option of buying tokens, using smart cards or buying paper-based QR tickets.

For the change in QR code technology, it has recently introduced QR code based paper tickets on all its metro lines. At least two QR code scanners have been installed at each entry and exit gate of the metro station. However, it is facing many glitches right now. Because some passengers have reported facing glitches and difficulties with the new system.
