The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is in the process of testing phone-based QR code ticketing technology. With the introduction of this facility, passengers will not have to stand in queues to collect tokens. Using his mobile he will be able to get the ticket. According to media reports, the application is ready to use this technology. It is planned to be launched by the last week of June as soon as the final phase of testing is completed.
DMRC is conducting internal testing of this new technology. The first thing to test will be to make sure the system is working smoothly or not. After scanning the QR code whether it is generating the ticket or not. The main objective of the trial is to check the functionality of this technology before it reaches the people so that the passengers do not face any kind of problem. Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communications, DMRC said that they expect the facility to be operational by the end of this month.

Passengers will have to use the Delhi Metro app to generate the e-ticket. You will get many options to make payment on the app. After making the payment a QR code will be generated. To enter the station, you need to scan the QR code through the code scanner at AFC.
According to an estimate, 75 percent of DMRC commuters use Metro cards to travel by Metro. At present, the ridership of DMRC is around 5.5 to 6 million. Before Kovid, this number was 6 to 65 lakhs. Even after the introduction of the e-ticket facility, passengers will have the option of buying tokens, using smart cards or buying paper-based QR tickets.
For the change in QR code technology, it has recently introduced QR code based paper tickets on all its metro lines. At least two QR code scanners have been installed at each entry and exit gate of the metro station. However, it is facing many glitches right now. Because some passengers have reported facing glitches and difficulties with the new system. Despite these challenges, DMRC remains committed to improving the technology and addressing any problems identified during the trials. They aim to provide a more efficient and user-friendly ticketing facility for Metro commuters, thereby improving the train service of Delhi Metro.
