Sambhal Cold Storage Collapse: The death toll in the cold storage roof collapse in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district has risen to 10. Police and relief workers together have rescued a total of 11 people buried under the debris, while 3 people are still missing. The UP government has announced compensation for the victims of the accident. Under the compensation, Rs. 2-2 lakh will be given to the families of the deceased, while the seriously injured people will be given a compensation amount of Rs. 50-50 thousand. Apart from this, all the injured are being treated free of cost. At the same time, a committee under the chairmanship of the commissioner and the DIG has been formed in the matter, which will investigate the cause of the incident in depth. The committee has been ordered to submit the report soon.

Let us tell you that yesterday, on March 16, at around 11:30 pm, the roof of the potato cold storage collapsed in Sambhal’s Chandausi area. Due to the collapse of the roof, many people were buried under it. Six people died in the accident, while four others also succumbed during treatment. So far 10 people have lost their lives, while 11 people have been rescued. Teams of National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have been carrying out rescue operations since the accident. Sambhal DM Manish Bansal said that sniffer dogs are also being used to find the remaining 3 people trapped in the debris.

At the same time, Moradabad DIG Shalabh Mathur said that a case has been registered against both the owners of the cold storage. Both the owners have been identified as Ankur Agarwal and Rohit Agarwal. A case has been registered against the accused under section 304. Both the accused are currently absconding. Police is searching for the accused.

CM Yogi expressed grief

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the incident. In a tweet, he said that the loss of lives in the cold store accident at Chandausi in Sambhal district is extremely painful. May Lord Shri Ram give place to the departed souls at his feet. CM further wrote that give strength to the family members to bear this immense sorrow.
