District Judge Court Agra has given a big relief to BJP MP Ramshankar Katheria. The court has stayed the punishment of the BJP MP, thus saving his parliamentary membership. After this decision, supporters of MP Katheria welcomed him by distributing sweets at his residence in Agra. Let us inform that two days ago, the MP MLA Court had sentenced the BJP MP to two years. Against this decision, the BJP MP appealed in the District Judge’s Court today i.e. on Monday.

Katheria had thrashed the employees of the electricity company

The Agra court, while hearing the matter, said that till the disposal of the appeal, the sentence will be stayed. After this, BJP MP Katheria has also got bail on his appeal. Please tell that this matter is from 12 years back. In November 2011, Katheria had thrashed the employees of a power company, in which case he was sentenced to two years in jail and also fined Rs 50,000.

Questions were raised on parliamentary membership

The court found the BJP MP guilty under sections 147 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment in the case. Under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, an elected public representative faces immediate disqualification for any offense punishable with imprisonment for two years or more. In such a situation, questions were also being raised on his parliamentary membership, although now the court has given him relief.
