Punjab Flood: The effect of flood is being seen in many states of the country. In Punjab too, farmers’ crops are suffering a lot due to floods. Regarding this, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said today i.e. on Sunday that the state has suffered a loss of about Rs 1,000 crore due to floods. Will send a detailed report of the loss to the Center and demand a relief package. The CM said that all the crops that have been damaged will first be assessed and compensation will be given to the people. Many districts of Punjab and Haryana have been affected by torrential rains in the month of July. Due to this the normal life got disturbed.

Water level of Bhakra Dam below danger- CM value

CM Mann further said that the water level in Bhakra Dam is below the danger mark. The government is monitoring the situation. We are in discussion with Bhakra Beas Management Board officials and other officials. It is a matter of relief that the water level in Bhakra Dam is still below the danger mark. In such a situation, there is no immediate need to release water. Bhakra Dam’s danger mark is at 1,680 feet, but on July 23, the water level in the dam was 1,653 feet. In such a situation, the CM said that there is no need to panic due to floods.

‘Leaders usurped the money meant for irrigation’

Mann asked the officials to regularly share information about the water level with the people to avoid any confusion. CM Mann said that it is a matter of happiness that the Meteorological Department has predicted no rain in the coming time, due to which the water level will further decrease. Our government has done remarkable work in every field including cleaning of canals. In the past it remained a “cash cow” for the irrigation and drainage departments. The leaders of the old government, for their vested interests, siphoned off the money meant for the drainage and irrigation department. A proposal to construct a new canal for judicious use of water in Punjab is also in the pipeline.
