The Vigilance team has arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amit Ratan from Bathinda Dehat in Punjab. Amit Ratan was arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from the sarpanch. According to media reports, Amit has been arrested from Karnal in Haryana. At present, Vigilance has not told publicly about the arrest. In this regard, the CM of Punjab has expressed his reaction on this.
Arrested after opposition pressure
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was being pressurized by the opposition to arrest Amit Ratan. Due to which the Vigilance team executed this action. Reacting to the arrest, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said the corrupt MLA should have been arrested immediately after he was caught taking bribe by Vigilance Bureau officials last week. Along with this, Badal said that SAD wants this MLA to be disqualified from the assembly.
