Minor applied for passport saying he was 20 years old, file stuck

Bhopal. A minor girl from Indore has applied in the passport application claiming herself as a child. The officials called the girl after there was apprehension about her age in the document check. In which the girl was looking young. During this, when asked for other documents, the girl turned out to be a minor. That’s why the passport got stuck. The matter came to the fore on Thursday during the nine-day passport court. Only 29 applicants across the state reached the passport court, while notices have been issued to about 200 applicants.

Home condition was not good, so had to go abroad to earn money.

Regional Passport Officer Shitanshu Chaurasia said that Indore girl Namrata Khopargaonkar (name changed) had applied to get her passport made, in the application she had put only Aadhaar card in which her date of birth was 20 years. While she appeared to be a minor, the officials at the passport office, having doubts about her age, questioned her and asked for her educational and other documents. In which the age of the applicant was found to be 16 years. On asking the reason, he told to increase his age to get a passport for a job abroad to run the house. Looking at his future, the officials politely explained him to get a passport with the correct date of birth and asked him to be present in the office with his parents at the time of application. After which his file was closed.

The process proceeded after showing enough of the court’s order

Kunal (name changed) who came from Bhopal did not mention his crime while applying for passport, his report was found adverse in the police report after which notice was sent to him by the office, today he filed a complaint in the court regarding the disposal of his case. Attested copy of the order was shown. After which the process of his passport was taken forward.

1500 stuck files across the state

About 1500 passport applications from most of the districts of the state are stuck at Bhopal Regional Passport Office due to lack of documents. Applicants are not reaching passport office even after giving notice. If the applicants do not submit the required documents on time, then the applications can be cancelled. Indeed passport applications have been held up due to lack of police verification, wrong address or other documents. In such a situation, passport applicants have the last chance to get the resolution done in the passport office. These days Passport Adalat is being set up by the Passport Office for the convenience of the applicants.
