There was a plan to bring both the wild animals to Van Vihar on the occasion of Republic Day this year, but due to lack of permission from the Central Zoo Authority, the plan to bring both the wild animals to Van Vihar is in limbo. Let us inform that Forest Minister Vijay Shah had announced in September 2022 that zebras and giraffes would be brought to Bhopal on the occasion of Republic Day. After this, the Van Vihar management started an exercise to bring both the wild animals.

Wildlife in the national park is brought under the exchange program. For this, wild animals are exchanged between two national parks or zoos. Zebras and giraffes are not basically wild animals of India. In such a situation, zebras and giraffes cannot be found in Van Vihar under the exchange program. In such a situation, the officials can buy both wild animals from Africa or Arab countries and bring them to Van Vihar. But before this, a detailed study will be done on both zebras and giraffes, in which the diet of both and the effect on them in different seasons will be studied.
Giraffes are present in 11 zoos of India
Giraffes are currently present in 11 zoos in India. A year ago, two male and one female zebra were brought from Israel in Lucknow. For this, the Lucknow Zoo had to work hard for seven years. The last zebra Bankit died here in 2015. On the other hand, Jaipur’s Nahargarh Biological Park is trying for zebras and giraffes from 2018 and Patna Zoo from 2022. Patna zoo can get both wild animals from South Africa soon. Officials of Jaipur’s Nahargarh Biological Park are in touch with zoos in Kenya and Arab countries.
