The issue of virginity test of women in MP: Kamal Nath wrote a letter to whom, what was his demand

Bhopal, On April 22, 2023, the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah program was organized by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh. For the programme, pregnancy tests were conducted for the girls in the name of medical tests. This act of the state government is a violation of the privacy of women and their fundamental rights. State Congress President Kamal Nath has written a letter to National Women’s Commission Chairperson Smt. Rekha Sharma, demanding a high-level inquiry into the matter and strict legal action against the culprits.

Attack on the conscience of women

Kamal Nath has said in the letter that the poor daughters of the state who had dreamed of their marriage rituals, seeing such government misbehavior on the luckiest day of their lives, is an attack on the conscience of the poor and women. Goddesses like Veerangana Durgavati, Rani Avantibai Lodhi and Maharani Ahilyabai irrigated the land with their tenacity, while such humiliating vandalism with motherly power is against the self-respect of the entire female caste.

Top in crime against women

Kamal Nath said that in a state where the government itself is determined to dishonor women, it is not an unexpected phenomenon for the criminals to gain courage, due to which Madhya Pradesh has been at the top in crimes against women for a long time. The present Madhya Pradesh government is silent against women atrocities, and on the other hand, government programs are hurting the self-esteem of women themselves.
