Wrestlers Protest At Jantar Mantar: Wrestlers’ protest against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar continues since April 23. Meanwhile, Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has come out in support of several wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik. Neeraj Chopra took to Twitter on Friday to urge the authorities to take quick action on the matter.

Neeraj Chopra wrote on Twitter, it pains me to see our athletes on the streets demanding justice. He has worked hard to represent our great nation and make us proud. We have a responsibility as a nation to protect the dignity of every individual or athlete. What is happening should never happen. This is a sensitive issue and should be dealt with in a fair and transparent manner. The concerned authorities should take prompt action to ensure justice in the entire matter.

Against alleged sexual harassment by Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh Supreme Court on the petition of protesting wrestlers Will hear on Friday. The Indian Olympic Association is yet to complete its investigation into the allegations, while the findings of a government-constituted inspection panel are yet to be made public. Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik say Delhi Police is reluctant to register an FIR against the WFI President despite repeated requests. The wrestlers also moved the Supreme Court demanding an FIR.

Recently, veteran athlete PT Usha said that wrestlers should not hit the streets to protest as it is hurting the country’s reputation. He also said that the wrestlers should have approached the Indian Olympic Association instead of performing again. Wrestlers have expressed displeasure over this statement of PT Usha.
