Bhopal. Sharbati wheat is produced on a large scale in Sehore and Vidisha districts. Sharbati wheat is a regional variety of MP, whose grains are golden and uniform in size. Unlike common wheat, Sharbati wheat roti is rich in fiber. Along with this, protein and vitamin B and vitamin E are also found in abundance in it. Tell that recently Sharbati wheat has also been given GI tag. Sehore is the largest producing district of Sharbati wheat in the whole country and Madhya Pradesh is the largest producing state. Being the highest quality wheat, farmers who produce Sharbati wheat get higher prices for it.

The amount of glucose and sucrose is more:
Sharbati wheat has more glucose and sucrose content than other wheats. Due to this its taste is sweet. Due to the black and alluvial soil of Sehore, the production of Sharbati wheat is high here. Mainly its C-306 variety is considered the best. Apart from this, other varieties are also available in the market. The price of Sharbati wheat ranges from Rs 2800 a quintal to Rs 4000 a quintal, depending on its varieties. This is the highest in comparison to all wheat.

Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have the highest demand:
Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh are the major procuring states of Sharbati wheat. During the season, the companies here come to Sehore to buy Sharbati wheat. According to the Agriculture Department, the yield of Sharbati wheat comes to about thirty quintals in one hectare. Those farmers who have good water availability, they also produce sharbati up to 40 to 50 quintals per hectare.

To increase the production of Sharbati wheat, work has been started after taking suggestions from local farmers and traders. Farmers get more income from Sharbati wheat. That’s why work is being done to increase its production.
