Cruise is polluting Bhopal’s big pond, creating trouble for Van Vihar’s animals as well, revealed in investigation report

Bhopal, Water pollution is happening not only because of the cruise in the Badi Talab of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Rather, noise pollution is also happening due to the loud DJ playing on the cruise. Oil and diesel seeping into the pond from the cruise’s three diesel engines poses a threat to aquatic life. At the same time, the wild animals of Van Vihar are also facing problems due to loud songs. This has been revealed in the report submitted to the NGT after a two-day investigation by the Central Pollution Control Board. The Board had closely inspected the cruise on February 7 and 8 last month. During this, these revelations have been made after closely reviewing the pollution caused by the cruise. A month later, Mandal submitted its report to the NGT on March 10, saying that many rules made for environmental protection are being broken indiscriminately in the operation of the cruise.

In its report, CPCB has advised to remove all the shortcomings and to use some new energy in place of diesel engine for operation of the boat.

Cruise is polluting the environment like this:

1. Air pollution is being caused by the three diesel engines of the cruise.

2. Oil and diesel from all the three engines are being mixed directly in the water of the pond.

3. Wet and dry waste is not being put separately in the dustbin of the cruise.

4. The waste water of the cruise is being dumped directly into the pond.

5. Music is being played loudly from two sound boxes of 450 watts each.

6. Engine’s cooling water and wash basin water are getting directly into the pond.

7. The sewage of the cruise’s toilet is also being released directly into the big pond.

Cruise breaking these rules

The CPCB has said in its report that the Hazardous Waste Management Rules 2016, Hazardous Waste Management Rules 2000, Water Act 1974, Air Act 1981 are being violated during the operation of the cruise. Apart from this, the suggestion of the Wetland Authority not to run motor boats has also been completely sidelined at the time of operation of the cruise.

MPPCB had said that pollution is not happening

Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (MPPCB), while submitting its investigation report to the NGT, had said that the operation of the cruise was not causing any harm to the big pond. In its report, the MPPCB had said that no pollution was being caused by the operation of the cruise. We did not find any kind of pollution on the spot. The petitioner of this report, Dr. Subhash C Pandey protested and demanded an inquiry by the CPCB.

they say

There are several flaws in the operation of the cruise. When I had put these flaws before the NGT, the MP Pollution Control Board refused to accept these flaws. But the Central Pollution Control Board has stamped all these flaws.
