AIIMS: Gift of Human Milk Bank, Artificial Lung Machine, NICU, ART Center and Cardiac Cath Lab

Bhopal. Cardiac Cath Lab in the capital’s AIIMS, five new facilities were started simultaneously on Sunday for newborns to serious heart patients. Which includes Human Milk Bank, ISMO (Artificial Lung) Machine, 27 Bed NICU, ART Center and Modern Cardiac Cath Lab. Whose inauguration was done by Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, the chief guest of the second convocation of AIIMS. He performed Bhoomipujan and foundation stone of 150-bed critical care block. The positive effects of these facilities will be seen on the infant mortality rate, treatment of heart and lung patients, treatment of HIV patients and other serious patients.

– Three crore modern cardiac cath lab

With three crore modern cardiac cath labs in the cardiology department, procedures like angiography and angioplasty will take half the time as compared to the present. Due to non-availability of cath lab till now, heart patients have been treated on DSA machine of Radiology Department.

– Six crore to Human Milk Bank and NICU

Every year 7 to 9 thousand children are born in AIIMS. But two out of 10 children do not get mother’s milk after birth. In such a situation, the milk bank will be able to give them mother’s milk. Due to which the child’s ability to fight diseases will increase. Also, preterm babies, whose birth has complications or newborns suffering from any disease are kept in NICU. Both these facilities have been started at a cost of 6 crores. Which will reduce the infant mortality rate.

– ISO machine from 50 lakhs

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is used when a person is unable to get oxygen on their own or the heart and lungs are not working properly. This 50 lakh machine itself separates carbon dioxide from the blood and oxygenates it.

– ART Center

The facility of Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART) Center has been started for HIV patients. Along with this, there will also be a CD-4 test to find out how much immunity is there in the patients. Medicine is given according to this.
