220 grams of wheat weighed more in a sack in Tumda center, manager suspended

Bhopal. Farmers are selling their wheat at 85 government wheat procurement centers in the district. So far, one lakh 4861 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured from 11 thousand 390 farmers. On Wednesday, Collector Ashish Singh along with District Supply Controller Meena Malakar reached the Tumda procurement center, where a farmer told that instead of 50 kg 580 grams in a sack, 50 kg 800 grams is being weighed at the centre. Due to which 220 grams of wheat has been weighed more in a sack.

The Collector instructed the Food Department team to investigate. When the sacks were weighed, the collector was informed that the complaint was found correct. On the spot, the collector issued orders to suspend the manager of the committee, Manoj Mali. The procurement center is being operated by the cooperative society Tumda at Dhanwanti warehouse.

manipulation of 893 quintals from 243 farmers

So far 243 farmers have sold 20 thousand 302 quintals of wheat at Tumda centre. Accordingly, this wheat has been weighed in 40 thousand 604 sacks. According to this, on weighing 222 grams more wheat than a sack, about 893 quintals of wheat has been manipulated. When the officials investigated, it was found that wheat was being taken from the farmers in excess of the prescribed quantity per bag. On finding irregularities in the investigation, the collector has issued orders to suspend the manager of the committee, Manoj Mali.

Procurement going on at 85 centers

District Supply Controller Meena Malakar said that 85 procurement centers have been set up in the district for wheat procurement. Farmers will be able to book slots at all these centers and sell wheat by taking tokens in advance. So far, a total of 1 lakh 4861 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured from 11 thousand 390 farmers. While last year 2.36 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was procured.
