Sonipat: The crushing season of the cooperative sugar mill has created problems with the start of 2023-24. The crushing process had to be interrupted in the first few days because the juice vat body in the factory burst. The mill’s crushing operations had to be stopped on Sunday due to a shortage of sugarcane in the yard. Management has to wait for the sugarcane in the yard. At the same time, sugarcane farmers are unable to wash the sugarcane due to a lack of sugarcane workers. By late evening, only 2820 quintals of sugarcane could be collected in the yard. The mill management repeatedly appeals to the sugarcane farmers to deliver the sugarcane on time.

Let us tell you that the crushing session of Sonipat Sugar Mill for the year 2022-23 was officially conducted on November 23 every year by MP Ramesh Kaushik. However, as sugarcane was not available on the farm, the crushing work was suspended until further notice. A sufficient quantity of sugarcane reached the farm on Monday, but the crushing work was interrupted as the body of the juice container burst in the factory in the afternoon. After the quad body was repaired, the crushing session went smoothly for several days. The mill management has so far crushed 88,216 quintals of sugarcane in the current crushing season. Since there was no sugar cane available at the mill yard on Sunday, the crushing work had to be stopped.

22,000 crushing capacity per day

For the processing season 2023-24, the target has been set to process 32 lakh and 50,000 quintals of sugarcane. He assured that this goal will be achieved without any disruption. Last year, three lakh quintals of sugar were produced by crushing 30 lakh quintals of sugarcane. He said that the crushing capacity of the mill is currently 22,000 quintals per day. There are currently 1892 farmers registered at the mill who have sown sugarcane in their fields.

Sugarcane farmers don’t get any workers

By late evening, only about three thousand quintals of sugarcane had reached the farm. Receipts are issued to sugarcane farmers in a timely manner. The crushing session begins after the sugarcane is deposited in the yard. There is an appeal to the sugarcane farmers. Make sure the sugarcane is delivered to the mill on time as soon as possible so that the crushing process can proceed smoothly.
