Sonipat: Life imprisonment for obscenity with a 4-year-old girl, fined 50,000

Sonipat: The court convicted the accused of obscenity with a four-year-old girl at the Murthal police station. Judge Suruchi Atreja Singh of the Additional District Court and Sessions sentenced the convict to life imprisonment. The court also fined the convict Rs 50,000. Orders were made to pay the fine to the victim.

The woman informed the Murthal police station on February 26, 2022 that she lived on the first floor of the house. His mother-in-law and father-in-law live down there with his brother-in-law. The woman said her four-year-old daughter told her her uncle misbehaved towards her. When the daughter informed him of the matter, he informed the mother-in-law and father-in-law about it. Whereupon his mother-in-law and father-in-law argued and threw him out of the house. He then filed a complaint with the police. Police had registered proceedings against the woman’s brother-in-law under Section 6 POCSO Act in the case. During the investigation into the case, the Murthal police station had arrested the accused.

By order of the court, he was taken into custody. After hearing the case, the ASJ Suruchi Atreja Singh court sentenced the accused. In passing judgment in the case, the court sentenced the convict to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 under 6 POCSO Act. Orders were made to pay the fine to the victim. In the event of late payment, the convicted person must reckon with an additional prison sentence of one year. On the other hand, the regional court awarded the victim the amount of the fine to be paid.
