Sonipat: 20 years in prison for raping a teenager, fined 70,000

Sonipat: The court convicted the accused of raping a teenager after he seduced her in the Sadar police station area. Judge Suruchi Attreja Singh of the Additional District Court and Sessions sentenced the convict to 20 years imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 70,000 on the guilty in different sections. Ordered to give the victim 50,000 rupees from the fine. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional 22 months’ imprisonment.

On January 27, 2022, a person complained to Sadar Police Station, saying that on January 26, his 17-year-old daughter went to her uncle’s house in the village. His daughter is a 12th grade student at a public school. When his daughter didn’t return, he went in search of her. Sadar Police Station was informed when the information was not found after a long search. The police had started proceedings against the stranger for seducing the teenager. While investigating the case, then-investigating officer Ashok Kumar’s team found the girl. Which confirmed the wrongdoing.

Police took action in the case and arrested Rajan, a resident of Karnal, on April 29, 2022. Police brought the accused before the court. After hearing the case, ASJ Suruchi Atreja Singh’s court sentenced defendant Rajan. The court has sentenced the convict to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 under 6 Poxo Act, five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 363 and five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 366. From the fine, the victim will receive 50,000 rupees. All sets are executed simultaneously.
