Sirsa: The fast track court sentenced an uncle, who was found guilty in the rape of a minor case, to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. In case of non-payment of the fine, the offender will face an additional penalty.
Following the complaint of the victim’s mother, a case was registered against the accused at Mahila police station on May 11, 2020. The mother of a ten-year-old minor’s complaint to the women’s police station stated that she worked as a day laborer. He has two girls and a boy from his first marriage. Due to disagreements with her husband, he left her, after which she married someone else. She and her children have been living with someone else for 10 years. She said that on the evening of May 10, 2020, when she returned home from work, she found her 10-year-old daughter missing. When he asked his son about his sister, he said that his uncle came to the house and took his sister with him. When her brother came home late that evening, he found his daughter crying. When asked, she said that her niece had fallen and that was why she was crying. His brother then ran away from the spot.
When she later asked her daughter about it, she said that her uncle had taken her to a deserted place. There he gagged her, threatened her with death and did her injustice. Mahila police station took cognizance of this complaint and arranged for medical examination of the victim. The victim also sought advice from the Child Protection Committee, which confirmed the allegations. Mahila Thana police arrested the accused and collected evidence against him. The matter reached the summary trial court. The court of Justice Praveen Kumar found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
