Sirsa: Judge Praveen Kumar of the Summary Court for Additional Circuits and Sessions sentenced the mother-son and another woman to life imprisonment on charges found guilty under the POCSO Act. At the same time, a fine of 50,000 to 50,000 rupees was imposed. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months’ imprisonment.
On January 2, 2019, the Women’s Police Station registered a case of a girl’s complaint from New Housing Board Colony, Barnala Road, under different sections. The victim said that she was originally from a village in Sirsa. She lives here with her mother and siblings. His father is an alcoholic, so they live separately with their mother. His married sister had come home, whereupon his mother went with her two brothers and a sister to feed Narama. After a few days, his married sister had to go to her in-laws’ house. He then left his aunt Rajbala, who lived in Shaktinagar. Rajbala duly kept him for two to four days. An unknown person was then called at home and sexually abused. Every second or third day, Rajbala would call someone with money and have them exploited.
The victim said in her complaint that after about a month a woman named Sukhpal Kaur came to Rajbala and told her to take her away, calling herself her aunt. Sukhpal’s son Gurdeep raped her at her home in New Housing Board Colony. When he told Sukhpal Kaur about this, he beat her and threatened to kill her. After that, Sukhpal also called strangers to his home and had him sexually abused. When her mother Narama returned after chewing, she told her mother about her ordeal and complained to the police.
The women’s police station acted quickly in this matter. The accused was arrested and evidence for the case was collected. Strongly represented in court. While delivering its verdict on Monday, the Fast Track Court sentenced Gurdeep s/o Ladda Singh, resident of New Housing Board Colony, Sirsa, Raghuana village, his mother Sukhpal Kaur aka Sukhi, wife Ladda Singh and Rajbala, wife of Jagdish , resident of Shaktinagar Sirsa sentenced to strict life imprisonment.
