Sonipat: The court convicted a defendant of murdering two brothers due to old enmity in the village of Mohana in the Mohana Police Station area. District and Circuit Court Judge Ajay Parashar sentenced the convict to life imprisonment. One of the attackers was also killed by a bullet in the incident. At the time of the crime, the convicted youth had fled after the accomplice was shot. On the other hand, two accused of conspiracy were acquitted.

On August 5, 2018, Vijay, who was lying on the property in front of his home in Mohana village, was shot dead by his neighbor Sunil out of old enmity. Vijay was a partner in a liquor deal. Vijay’s brother Kuldeep’s wife Deepa, who was cleaning the property at the time of the incident, had told police that her brother-in-law Vijay was lying on the cot. Then neighbor Sunil came and shot him. The woman made noise about this. As he made noise, Pradeep, the woman’s second brother-in-law, also reached the spot. He had captured Sunil. Shots were fired as a scuffle broke out between them. Pradeep was also shot in the process. While Sunil was also shot. After that, Sunil ran away. All three injured were later taken to PGI Rohtak.

Police had registered a case of attempted murder against Sunil on Deepa’s testimony. Later, all three, Vijay, Pradeep and Sunil, died during treatment. The investigation of this case was turned over to the CIA. The CIA arrested Akshay, Anand, Anil and Dalbir while they worked the case. Police said the defendants had previously said their case would be heard in court as part of their dispute with Vijay. For his revenge, Anil and Dalbir had conspired to murder. Later, Sunil and Akshay set out to carry out the incident. Sunil was also shot dead in the attack. After that, Akshay, who was standing outside, fled from there. Anand, on the other hand, had provided weapons for the incident.

The police brought all four before the court. The CIA seized three pistols and seven bullets. Akshay seized two pistols and five cartridges and Anand one pistol and two cartridges. ASJ Ajay Parashar’s court convicted Akshay of murder in that case. He was present at the Sunil incident. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5,000 under Section 302 of the IPC and to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.2,000 under the Illegal Arms Act. If he fails to pay the fine, he faces another eight months in prison. Anand’s case is currently under review. Anil and Dalbir, however, were acquitted.
