Rewari: Fitness test of vehicles will be conducted once a week by the Motor Vehicle Inspector in the presence of an official of RTA Secretariat. This week MVI arrived under the influence of alcohol to check the suitability of the vehicles. Seeing MVI’s drunkenness, RTA secretary Gajendra Kumar immediately sent him back. Instead, the operations manager was called from the road workshop and the vehicles were handed over.

A long queue of vehicles passing by formed in Sector 18. MVI of the Highway Department plays an important role in overtaking. Sources said MVI was under the influence of alcohol when he went to the spot to check the condition of the vehicles. After receiving this information, RTA secretary Gajendra Kumar himself came to Rewari from Bawal office. When he saw MVI’s condition, he asked him to return immediately. In his place, the RTA secretary called the Roadways Workshop Manager and started handing over the vehicles. According to sources, MVI also had an altercation with a drunk driver. RTA secretary and MVO Dwarka Prasad Sharma resolved the matter and sent the MVI back from there. The drivers who came to overtake had to wait a long time until the World Cup arrived. The fortunate thing was that the RTA secretary did not allow the medical examination to be carried out at the MVI out of compassion. If the medical examination had been carried out, the MVI on duty would have suffered huge consequences. A temporary gym employee also confirmed that MVI was on site under the influence of alcohol.

Questions about fitness arose

The arrival of an officer under the influence of alcohol to check the suitability of vehicles raises many questions. Because of this, there is a possibility of corruption and confusion in the name of fitness testing. How can an officer who is unfit himself be expected to inspect vehicles transparently? Although RTA Secretariat officials are also present during the suitability test of the vehicles, the entire responsibility for the suitability test lies in the hands of MVI.

came back for health reasons

In this regard, MVI said that he returned from the temporary position due to his poor health. The overhaul of more than 100 vehicles was carried out in the presence of the operations manager. He denied being under the influence of alcohol. On the other hand, MVO of RTA office Dwarka Prasad Sharma has confirmed the incident. The RTA secretary could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
