Work on the pedestrian bridge that connects the trauma center to the civil hospital is progressing very slowly. What remains in FOB’s work is the preparation of four elevators and floors on both sides of the Civil Hospital and Trauma Center. This work has been going very slowly for about two and a half months. Plans for the elevator were drawn up in July, but plastering work has not yet been completed. Once the FOB is fully completed, the journey from the trauma center to the civil hospital will become much easier for citizens, but the slow progress of the work will take more time. Someone else has the tender for the work to install the elevator. Work has already been completed to build stairs on both sides of the FOB and a tin shed on the walkway. Plastering work is currently underway on the prepared designs of the elevator.
Patients and disabled people receive an elevator
Two lifts are being prepared on either side of the trauma center and civil hospital at FOB, one lift being dedicated for transporting patients on stretcher and the other for the disabled and other patients. The rest of the people can reach the trauma center and civil hospital through stairs. After the pedestrian bridge was approved in 2019, the completion of the work after approximately 4 years will provide relief for the population. The city’s large ring road runs between the hospital and the trauma center. After treatment at the trauma center, patients have to be shifted to the civil hospital for admission. In the event of death, the bodies are also taken to the hospital from the trauma center. The construction of the FOB will save patients from having to ride around on stretchers in traffic.
The elevator has not been used for six years
Construction of the new multidisciplinary civil hospital began in 2017. Two elevators were installed in the building for patients and staff, but one elevator has not been used for six years. Due to the large number of OPDs in the hospital, only one elevator is overloaded with patients and staff. Since the elevator is constantly busy, many elderly people and patients have to climb the stairs in such a situation. The civil hospital sees around 1500 OPDs every day.
