Punjab Haryana High Court: Petition filed challenging cancellation of membership of Naina Chautala and four MLAs; Hearing will take place on April 25th

Punjab Haryana High Court: During the Lok Sabha elections in Haryana, the membership of five MLAs, including Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Naina Chautala, was canceled by the Punjab-Haryana High Court through the Assembly Speaker. The Supreme Court has set the date for hearing the petition against it on April 25.

According to media reports, Abhay Singh Chautala had demanded disqualification of the MLAs under the Anti-Defection Act. In this matter, by filing a reply on behalf of Abhay Chautala, the decision to cancel the membership of Naina Chautala and other MLAs was justified. At the same time, Naina Chautala has challenged the cancellation of her membership by the Speaker in the 13th Assembly.

Decision made based on a media report

A petition has been filed claiming that the Speaker of the Assembly took this decision based on a media report. These MLAs had submitted their resignations to the Speaker. After this, Abhay Chautala had demanded disqualification of the MLAs under the Anti-Defection Act. These MLAs included Naina Chautala, mother of JJP leader Dushyant Chautala.
