Chandigarh: The way is clear for the construction of a medical college in Panchkula. Classes for the college will begin shortly at the State Institute for Health and Family Welfare, Sector 6 and for this the Civil Hospital here will be used as a Kindergarten. At the same time, a large building for the Medical College will be constructed in Sector 32 next to Ghaggar, where this Medical College will be relocated. A consensus on this was reached at a high-level meeting chaired by Vidhan Sabha spokesman Gyan Chand Gupta at MLA Hostel, Sector 3, Chandigarh. The Chief Minister will now be informed.

Notably, Haryana Vidhansabha speaker Gyan Chand Gupta has long sought to build a medical college in Panchkula. He also spoke to Chief Minister Manohar Lal about this. At the direction of the Chief Minister, senior Haryana government officials came to hold a meeting with the Vice President after taking details of all the locations of the proposed medical college. Aditya Dahiya, Director of Department of Medical Education and Research, gave detailed information of 5 sites available in the district through PPT presentation. These sites are located in the villages of Chandi Mandir, Sector 32, Khatauli and Jalauli. After much discussion, it was decided that a medical college should be established in Sector 32 alongside Ghaggar. Until the building here is constructed, classes will be held at the State Health and Family Welfare Institute in Sector 6.

The Haryana Urban Development Authority has already identified 3020 acres of land in Sector 32 for the establishment of a Sector 32 Medical College. The department will soon hand it over to medical training. For this purpose, the STP report is sent to the senior town planner and then the file is sent to the senior administrative board of the HSVP for final approval. The HSVP has also put up a sign on the grounds of the medical university. The total surface is in three different pockets. On the way from Bhumi Majri Chowk to the Panchkula-Yamunanagar National Highway, after crossing the Ghaggar Bridge, is about a kilometer from the main road on the left.
