Narnaul: SI caught taking bribes of 2,000 rupees, Anti-Corruption Bureau caught in the act

Narnaul: Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar of the Municipal Police Station was arrested red-handed by the team from Anti-Corruption Bureau Gurugram when he accepted a Rs.2,000 bribe. The case was heard late Sunday night when it was brought before the court on Monday and he was remanded in custody for a day.

According to the information, Jagat Singh, a resident of Naya village district Rewari, was arrested in the case of a forged note and the police had obtained his pre-trial detention from the court. Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar was responsible for his pre-trial detention. It is alleged that SI Ramesh Kumar demanded Rs 12,000 instead of not attacking Jagat Singh during his pre-trial detention and making concessions. Thereupon Neha, the daughter of the defendant Jagat Singh, gave 10,000 rupees but SI Ramesh asked for 2,000 rupees more. Neha then complained to the Gurugram Anti-Corruption Bureau whereupon a team was formed led by Inspector Jaipal Singh from Mewat and Gurugram’s team went to the Narnaul City Police Station where Neha immediately presented 2000 rupees to SI Ramesh, the ACB team signaled.

Upon receiving the signal, the ACB team immediately grabbed SI Ramesh Kumar and took him to the ACB Police Station where he was thoroughly questioned and examined. Based on inquiries and investigations, a case has been instituted against the accused SI Ramesh Kumar under sections of the Corruption Prevention Act. The accused was held in police custody overnight and was brought before the District Magistrate’s Court the following Monday, from where Ramesh Kumar was remanded in police custody for a day.

Two people named Jagat Singh and Rajkumar, residents of Rewari, were arrested by police in the counterfeit banknote case. There is a case from July 1st last year that a woman named Phoolpati, a resident of Ganesh colony, brought a pension from the bank and when she was standing near Kachari Mod Mahendragarh Road, two people came on a scooter and introduced themselves to the pension department. At the presentation, he informed Phoolpati that his pension had increased. Saying this, he took 18,000 rupees from the woman and gave her 36,000 rupees. Those 36,000 rupees were not real banknotes but a fake, which Phoolpati complained to the police. In this case, the city police take action against Jagat Singh and Rajkumar. There is another case against him in Rewari because of counterfeit banknotes.
