Kurukshetra: In a large-scale operation, the team from Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested the sarpanch of Babain village, Kurukshetra district, red-handed on Wednesday while he accepted a 20,000 rupee bribe on behalf of ESI. The team, along with the sarpanch, also arrested the ESI.
A spokesman for the bureau said the sarpanch caught playing the middleman was identified as Sanjeev Kumar aka Goldy, while the ESI was identified as Jaswinder Singh. Both defendants were arrested at the request of a woman from Babain, Kurukshetra. The applicant turned to the ACB and alleged that the police, through ESI Jaswinder Singh Sarpanch, had solicited a bribe of Rs. 30,000 for failing to arrest his nephews in a case registered at Babain Police Station. In this case, the accused had previously taken 10,000 rupees. On the basis of the complaint, after fact-checking, the ACB team formed a raid team and arrested the accused Sarpanch red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses.
