Haryana: The Haryana Anti Corruption Bureau team on Tuesday afternoon arrested senior IAS officer Vijay Dahiya, an accused in a corruption case. Late in the evening, he was produced before the Panchkula court from where he was sent to judicial custody for two weeks. The police are investigating the matter.
Vijay Dahiya has been in trouble for some time over corruption in the Haryana Skill Development Corporation. A woman, Poonam Chopra, was arrested red-handed by the FBI team while accepting bribes. During this time, Dahiya was also called by the woman and the FBI let him go after questioning him. Vijay Dahiya, the senior IAS officer of Haryana, was not arrested that day after being questioned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and was dismissed due to various technicalities and bureaucratic pressures as he was an IAS officer. Dahiya had also fled the court but received no relief. After solid evidence and investigation, he was arrested. After his arrest, Vijay Kumar was produced before the CJEM Panchkula court from where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. The Panchkula Anti-Corruption Bureau team led by DSP Virendra Singh arrested IAS Vijay Dahiya and produced him in the court late evening.
It is noteworthy that Poonam Chopra, who is accused of accepting bribes in return for passing the law in the Haryana Employment Skills Corporation, was arrested by the Haryana Anti Corruption Bureau last month. Five lakh rupees were stolen from him as bribe. After that the whole matter was revealed. Complainant Rinku Manchanda, a resident of Fatehabad, had said in the complaint submitted to the office that Poonam Chopra spoke to Vijay Dahiya, the then commissioner of Haryana Employment Skills Corporation, on WhatsApp in front of him. Thereafter, he had given 2 lakhs in advance to receive his payment of 40 lakhs. On the day when it was time to pay the outstanding amount of three lakhs to the complainant Poonam Chopra, he had also spoken to Vijay Dahiya in front of the complainant on that day. Poonam Chopra told him that two lakhs had arrived earlier and three lakhs had arrived now. The FBI then arrested the woman red-handed along with the money on site. Dahiya was not arrested that day, but the FBI team was continuously investigating. All in all, after being absent from service for a long time, Dahiya was forced to join but was neither given the post nor the department. Meanwhile, with Dahiya’s arrest, his job is also in jeopardy.
