Indian Railways has coordinated with the Ministry of Health to open Jan Aushadhi Kendras at railway stations and railway hospitals under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra Yojana.
It is noteworthy that during the journey in Indian Railways, passengers have to face problems due to health related problems. In such a situation, this step of the Railways can prove to be a boon for the passengers. With this initiative of the Railways, the passengers will get the facility of medicines at the station. With this, the passengers will have to spend less money to buy medicines.
Let us inform that Prime Minister Narendra Modi started Jan Aushadhi Yojana five years ago. To make people aware about this, Jan Aushadhi Week is also being celebrated across the country. At present there are 9 thousand Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the country, which has been set a target to increase to ten thousand this year. Along with this, now these Jan Aushadhi Kendras will be opened at many big railway stations including 127 railway hospitals.
Cold, cough, fever, breath, blood pressure, diabetes and other essential medicines will be available in these centers to be opened at railway stations. These centers include 1759 medicines and 280 surgical instruments. Along with this, along with cheap medicines, sanitary pads will also be made available to women at Re 1 at these Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Indian Railways will initially open these centers at major stations like Delhi. After this, Jan Aushadhi Kendras will be opened at other identified stations as well.
