Former professor of Delhi University commits suicide.
New Delhi: A professor has committed suicide in his house in Ranibagh area of the capital Delhi. A large number of liquor bottles and cigarette boxes have been recovered from the house of the deceased. The deceased professor has been identified as Samarveer, a native of Rajasthan’s Baran district. After getting the information, the local police reached the spot and inspected the spot. The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.
Was troubled by the appointment of someone else in his place
It is being told that the deceased was unmarried and used to teach as an adhoc professor at the Hindu College of Delhi University, but recently the college management appointed someone else in his place. Because of this, he was running under tension for some time. The deceased was staying with his cousin. Delhi Police said that the body of the deceased was found hanging from his house, but no suicide note was found.
DU teachers union called the incident unfortunate
After the death of the professor, teachers’ organizations and student organizations of Delhi University have demonstrated. Leftist students’ organization AISA protested fiercely outside Hindu College on Thursday. Protesters say it is an institutional murder. The guest teachers who are teaching in Delhi University should be appointed permanently there. DU Teachers’ Union President Prof AK Bhagi also expressed regret over the professor’s suicide and said it was an unfortunate incident.

Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) teachers’ wing Academic for Action and Development Delhi Teachers Association (AADDTA) also termed the incident as very sad and shocking. AADDTA President Aditya Narayan Mishra said that a large number of guest teachers are suffering the pain of displacement and going through mental agony. Our demand is that the teachers who are teaching should be given permanent appointment there itself.
