New Delhi: A case of hostage taking of a woman has come to light in a hotel in the national capital Delhi. The victim has alleged that the hotel staff held her hostage for hours and told her that she could not leave the hotel until she paid Rs 20 lakh. However, the hotel management has termed these allegations as false and baseless.

The victim accused of harassment

A woman has accused the JW Marriott Hotel management and its staff of holding her hostage for hours at Aerocity in the capital Delhi. The woman says that when she complained about the poor service and poor quality food, she was held hostage by the hotel staff. The hotel management harassed them and did not allow them to leave the hotel. Employees were put behind them. Even when she went to the washroom, there were two staff standing at the gate.

Police registered FIR, investigation started

94 rooms and halls were booked by Women Economic Forum for six days annual meet on 26 December at JW Marriott Hotel. For this, Rs 55 lakh was paid as advance payment. The victim had attended the event as a legal advisor, the coordinator of the event was Sanjeev Shukla, who asked the woman complainant to inquire about the bill.

According to the victim, the bill was not correct as the quality of service and food at the hotel was poor during the event. She met the hotel administration regarding this, so that those mistakes in the bill could be rectified. Describing the hotel’s shortcomings to the hotel administration, he said that he has already paid 80 per cent of the amount. After this, when she came out from there, she saw that four-five people were following her. When she reached to talk to the hotel management to complain about this, the hotel staff started shouting at her. The hotel management told her that she could not leave the hotel until she cleared the balance of Rs 20 lakh. The complaint of this case has been lodged by the victim in the IGI Airport police station. Delhi Police has started investigating the matter by registering an FIR.
