69.67 lakh families are being benefited

It may be noted that the Universal PDS scheme was launched in Chhattisgarh on October 2, 2019, on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. After this till now 69.67 lakh families are getting the benefit of this scheme. Under the scheme, 35 kg food grains are also being made available to APL families at a cheaper rate. By implementing Universal PDS, the government has fulfilled its promise included in the public manifesto.

Ration card being made for all classes

Chhattisgarh’s Universal PDS Scheme, implemented on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has been implemented keeping in mind the public interest. The motto of this scheme is also “everyone’s right to cheap rice”. Due to continuous involvement of families in the ambit of the scheme, this scheme has become everyone’s scheme. Under this scheme, ration cards are being made for everyone from Kotwar to Collector and from Councilor to Minister of the state.

Two crore 55 lakh families got registered

Food Minister Amarjit Bhagat said that after the implementation of Universal PDS in the state, the scope of food security has increased. Two crore 55 lakh families have been registered for ration through fair price shops. With the increase in the scope of food security, people’s trust in the state government has increased. Poor deprived families are now again getting 35 kg food grains under this scheme. At the same time, if there are more than five family members, 7 kg additional food grains per member are also being given. Out of 27.60 lakh tonnes of rice for the implementation of the Universal PDS scheme, the central allocation is 13.84 lakh tonnes and the state pool allocation is 13.76 lakh tonnes. In the financial year 2022-23, about Rs 5100 crore will be borne by the state government for this. On the other hand, a budget provision of 3400 crores is proposed for the Chief Minister’s Food Assistance Scheme. Due to this, the worries of the people of poor and deprived families have been removed.

Aadhaar authentication stopped arbitrariness of shopkeepers

The state government has taken a sensitive initiative in adding new families continuously to provide food security to the people. During the last two years, about 11 lakh 15 thousand new ration cards have been issued in the state and names of 5 lakh 52 thousand new members have been added to the ration cards. Similarly, food grains are being distributed in educational institutions, ashrams, hostels and welfare institutions in the state.

E-pos machine installed in shops of 25 districts

At the same time, modern information technology is being used to lift food grains from ration cards. Aadhaar authentication has been done by installing e-pos machines in shops in 25 districts of the state.
